BJP national president Amit Shah while addressing 'Enlightened citizen conference' in Jaipur launched a scathing attack on the Congress party, saying “the party which can’t respect democracy, shouldn't talk about democracy”.
Shah also said that only the BJP and the Communist party runs in a democratic way.
“Do we have any doubt in guessing that who will be the President of Congress before Congress elections but do anyone know that who will be heading BJP after me?. No one can say because it will be chosen by the workers,” said Amit Shah.
While further attacking the Congress, the BJP national president said that during UPA’s rule, the government was “under policy paralysis,” adding, “at that time all ministers considered themselves as Prime Minister and the Prime Minister was never considered as Prime Minister. And then 2014 elections came and we decided that Gujarat CM will be our PM candidate, and we got a historic mandate.”
While lauding NDA’s policy and in the same breath slamming the Congress, Shah said:
“The government has first started work on those 50 crore people, who weren’t getting basic facilities for the last 70 years. We gave them gas connection. But, what the Congress has given to the country? An MP was given 25 gas coupons, while we have given gas connections to 5.5 crore people.”
While levelling the ‘undemocratic’ charge at the Congress the BJP party president said:
“Democracy doesn't mean giving only those who asks for it, democracy should also be for those who can't ask. We have allotted 2 crore houses, we have provided electricity to the villages. Why it didn’t happen in last 70 years. Poor children were not provided with vaccination at that time. But, we have made the change. And now, Narendra bhai will give health insurance of 5 lakh to all the 50 lakh poor people under ‘Ayushman Bharat’.”
While hailing the move of surgical strike, Shah said:
“Uri attack happened. Everyone was thinking what will happen now? Everyone thought at max, the Prime Minister will issue a statement. But this time the PM was Modi ji, and that's why surgical strike happened. But what did Rahul Gandhi ask after it. He called it ‘khoon ki dalali’.”
Further lauding PM Narendra Modi, Shah said:
"India has reached 8.2 percent GDP under PM Modi’s leadership. Several Prime Ministers go to Davos, but not many speak there. But, when PM Modi went, he made a speech and the world listened to it. It happened because of a full mandate and because of determination of our PM. He works from 18 hours to 24 hours a day.”
Earlier in the day, Shah addressed the party workers in a gathering, wherein he said that no one can defeat the BJP in Rajasthan Assembly polls.
This is Shah's third visit since July to the poll-bound state ruled by the party.
