Andhra Pradesh CM Jagan Mohan Reddy Orders Demolition Of 'Praja Vedika' Built By His Predecessor Chandrababu Naidu

Earlier in the day, addressing the collectors conference at Praja Vedika in Undavalli, the Andhra Chief Minister went live on Facebook, announcing that along with the building the road will be 'cleansed' too as it flouted environmental norms adding this will be done at the district level too.

"This is not good governance. Yesterday I said, let's start the demolition from this very building, today I am asking you the same thing. Starting tomorrow this is the first building to be demolished because we want to send a signal. Once, we start here this entire road will be cleansed. It does not stop here. I want you to take this exercise to the district level too and send a message to collectors and superintendents too," he said.

In the conference, he also directed the district collectors and superintendents of police to take measures for the closure of belt shops in the state by October 2019.

YSR Chief Jagan Mohan Reddy Pushes For Special Category Status For Andhra Pradesh, Slams Previous Naidu Dispensation

Previously, on Monday, Reddy had ordered the demolition of 'Praja Vedika' building constructed next to the residence of former CM Chandrababu Naidu by the previous Telugu Desam Party (TDP) government.

The building was being used for both the government and party activities. The demolition will begin on Wednesday. After the TDP's defeat in the recently concluded assembly elections, Chandrababu Naidu had written to Jagan Mohan Reddy urging him to allocate the building to him in the capacity of Leader of Opposition.

Since taking charge, Reddy had revamped many of Naidu's policies by renaming various schemes and policies of the previous TDP government. He also made a strong pitch to the Centre for Special Category Status (SCS) to be given to his state at the meeting of the fifth governing council of NITI Aayog on June 18, slamming the previous Naidu government for depriving the state through institutionalised corruption with unemployment being a stagnant issue with no possible way out.

Chandrababu Naidu's TDP suffered massive loss at the hands of Jagan Mohan Reddy's YSR Congress Party (YSRCP), which got the absolute majority in 175-member Assembly by winning 151 seats. In the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections too, YSRCP bagged 22 seats while the TDP got just three seats.
