India's Chief of Army Staff General Bipin Rawat has warned Pakistan PM Imran Khan on Friday and said that his country needs to stop sending terrorists from its country to India.

General Rawat was responding to Khan's statements at the Kartarpur Corridor groundbreaking event where the Pakistan PM had made a pitch for peace between India and Pakistan, and said that the countries need to move ahead and take a step towards this.

"First, you take one step forward. You say if India takes one step forward, we will take two steps forward -- India has taken steps a lot of times. At least you should make a move. We have stated that terror is growing in your country, at least take some initiative in your country to curb terrorism. Stop sending terrorists from your country. First show us on ground what's the situation, we'll take a step forward, but first you take a step forward. Whether that's two steps and whether that's one step, yes or not?"

He also reiterated India's Minister of External Affairs Sushma Swaraj's statement where she said that terror and talks do not go together.

"There's a contradiction in what they (Pakistan) are saying, so you know you cannot keep making these statements for generating trust. So, I think one step from there should come in a positive manner. Then we will investigate whether that one step has taken effect on the ground. After that we will take an initiative but until that happens our nation has a very clear policy terror and talks don't go together,"  he said.

Pakistan PM Imran Khan on Wednesday, during the Kartarpur Corridor event, had said that Kashmir was the only issue between the two countries and that it was solvable if the leaders showed commitment. He also went on about how there is only the option of friendship between the two countries.

"Two nations that are nuclear-armed, it's madness to think of war. The person who thinks he can win a nuclear war is foolish. Everybody will lose that war. If nobody wants war then is there any other option but friendship?

"This is where India and Pakistan are today. For 70 years, we have seen the same issues, I would say that mistakes were made by both the countries, but we can't move on till the blame game goes on. We take a step forward and two steps back. We can live peacefully. France and Germany can live together, they have open borders, they never think of war even though they were at war once. If they can form a union then why can't we? Today, I am saying that the political parties, our army, all are on the same page. We want to move ahead, " he said.
