The Aam Aadmi Party on Saturday appointed its Rajya Sabha lawmaker Sanjay Singh as its Rajasthan in-charge, following its heavy defeat in the Lok Sabha election across the nation.

The decision was taken by the party's national convenor Arvind Kejriwal at his residence.

The party took the decision as Rajasthan is important in national politics, the AAP said in a statement.

Mr Singh was already given charge of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. Apart from him, the AAP also appointed others in top party positions in Rajasthan.

The party took several decisions to strengthen itself in the state and Singh will soon be going to Jaipur to make the announcements.

Earlier on Saturday, Gautam Gambhir took aim at Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal for the first time after allegations were made against the cricketer-turned-politician.

AAP leader Atishi accompanied by Delhi Deputy CM Manish Sisodia had alleged Gambhir's role in the circulation of pamphlets carrying "obscene and derogatory" remarks against her in a press conference.

"Dekheye mujhe sirf ek cheez bolne hai ke, jab mere upar aroop lagaye gaye tab mai 15 din purana tha aaj mai ek mahina purana hoon toh jo humare CM sahab hai unko ek cheez bolna chahunga. Abhi tak maine kuch bola nahi. Yehi kehna chata hoon ke chunaav aayenge jayenge, loog aayange jayange lekin desh aage badta rehna chahiye. Jis din aap apna zameer apna imaan haar jayenge toh uss din aap sab jayenge. Ek seat jitne ke liye agar aap itna ghatiya ilzaam laga sakte hai toh mere paas koi shabd nahi hai aapke liye".

(I just want to say one thing. When allegations were levelled against me I was 15 days old in this party and now I am 1 month old. I just want to tell our CM and I haven't spoken about this ever. I want to say that elections will come and go, people will come and go but the day you will lose your principle, you will lose everything. If you can put such disgusting allegations for the sake of one seat then I don't have any words to say to you.)
