Stirring another beef controversy, BJP West Bengal chief Dilip Ghosh on Monday, said that one could eat beef at home and not outside while addressing a rally in Burdwan. He claimed that one's health would be fine irrespective of which animal one consumes. He also threatened that if anyone misbehaves with cows- who are like a mother - would be treated in a similar manner, stating 'killing cows and beef consumption is a crime'.

Pro-cow slaughter remark stokes controversy

Earlier on October 23, Union Minister Raosaheb Danve, in a bid to garner votes for his son contesting the Maharashtra Assembly elections. He also boasted that he would allow cow slaughter till he is in power.  Furthermore, he advocated the illegal businesses that are flourishing in his Jalna constituency.

In the video accessed, he is seen addressing a gathering saying, "All illegal activities (do number ka dhanda) are happening in this district only. Sandalwood, rice, and so many others. For the first time when the ban on cow slaughter was implemented, during Bakri-Eid, 2-4 people came to me to ask for slaughtering (Qurbani). They said, what have you done. When I asked them what happened, they responded saying that they don't allow us to slaughter. That's when I told them, till Raosaheb Danve is here, it won't be shut."

Cows turning non-vegetarian

Meanwhile, Goa Garbage Management Minister Michael Lobo claimed that stray cattle in the state were turning non-vegetarian. This statement has been confirmed by the cow shelter where such cattle are being treated. The president of Gomantak Gosevak Mahasangh, Kamlakant Tari, maintained that cattle did not eat chicken or mutton willingly. He also stated that the left-over food fed to the strays contained a mixture of vegetables and chicken bones. Furthermore, Tari revealed that such bones were found in the digestive system of the cows on inspection by the shelter’s veterinarians.
