Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has quipped about the massive Supreme Court verdict dismissing a batch of petitions seeking a court-monitored probe into the Rafale deal.

Taking to Twitter, the JKNC chief has highlighted the BJP's luck, putting it in the context of the election results in five states:

Earlier on Friday, the apex court held that it had found nothing wrong in the decision-making process in the intergovernmental deal between India and France for the purchase of 36 Rafale fighter jets over which the Congress and Lobby have repeatedly alleged 'scam'.

The verdict wasn't accepted by the Congress which has said that it would continue to campaign against the Modi government over the deal, with Jyotiraditya Scindia, Randeep Surjewala and Anand Sharma issuing statements to this effect. Prashant Bhushan, whose petition was dismissed, also hit out at the Supreme Court's verdict.

On the other hand, leaders of the BJP, including party president Amit Shah, Home Minister Rajnath Singh, former Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar, MoS Col Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore and others have slammed the Congress party, with calls even being made in Parliament for Rahul Gandhi to apologise for his claims on the deal.

Meanwhile, Anil Ambani has issued a statement after being repeatedly attacked by the Congress president over 'crony capitalism' allegation relating to the selection of Reliance Group as Dassault Aviation's offset partner for the deal. In his statement, Anil Ambani said the following:

"I welcome the judgment of the Honourable Supreme Court today summarily dismissing all PILs filed on the Rafale contracts, and conclusively establishing the complete falsity of the wild, baseless and politically motivated allegations levelled against Reliance Group and me personally. We remain committed to India's national security and to making our humble contribution towards the Make in India and Skill India policies of the Government in the critical area of defence including our offset partnership agreement with our valued partner, Dassault Aviation of France."
