Throwback to the 2015 polls

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) led by current Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal made a remarkable turnaround after they won a whopping 67 seats out of 70 seats in the Legislative Assembly polls in 2015. the AAP gained 39 additional seats as compared to the previous polls, which allowed them to form the government with an absolute majority. The BJP was reduced to merely three seats, losing 29 seats in the polls while the Indian National Congress (INC) was reduced to zero seats.

The turnaround for the Kejriwal-led AAP came after they lost miserably to the BJP in the 2014 general elections that saw the BJP come into power with a massive mandate all around the country. He forged an alliance with the Congress and formed a minority government in a hung Assembly. Late Delhi Congress chief Sheila Dixit had then given a 'not unconditional support' to the AAP as both the parties succeded in keeping the BJP away from power despite the latter winning 31 seats in the Legislative Assembly polls.

2019 Lok Sabha Polls

The Aam Aadmi Party was decimated in the 2019 general elections as the BJP managed to retain seven out of seven seats in the National Capital Region (NCR), thus comprehensively retaining their clutch over the country's capital.
