'Desh hai, dharamshala nahi': Kumar Vishwas launches all-out attack on those opposing Assam NRC

Rebel AAP leader and poet Kumar Vishwas cornered those opposing the Assam government’s second and final draft list of NRC. Slamming the critics of NRC, Vishvas urged political parties to respect the sanctity of Indian citizenship, saying, “This is a country, not an inn” (Desh hai, dharamshala nahi).

"Amid the country facing internal security issues, do those who are standing with the infiltrators for their vote-banks and appeasement politics actually represent the country? How even under these governments, crores of people infiltrated into our country? Let the sanctity of Indian citizenship be intact. This is a country not an inn,” Kumar Vishwas wrote on Twitter.

In another tweet, he said accept the Indians and deport those who have illegally entered the country due to the inaction and greed of the state and central governments.

Vishwas further said, “It is unfortunate that political leaders are using this issue which is of grave importance to the national interest of the country for polarising the votes. Don’t lower the dignity of being a citizen of the country for mere votebanks. The leaders of political parties will be gone in 5-10 years. However, the country was here and it will remain here.”

Earlier, BJP President Amit Shah tore into the Opposition over citizenship debate in Rajya Sabha on Tuesday. Slamming the Congress party for its hypocrisy, Amit Shah said, “In 1985, Rajiv Gandhi signed Assam accord. What was the core of the Assam accord - NRC was the soul of the accord.”

Shah while reminding the Congress that it was a leader from their party who had signed the accord on NRC in 1985, said “It was an initiative taken by Rajiv Gandhi, but you didn't show courage to implement this, We did. NRC was initiative of the Prime Minister from the Congress party.”
