Gathbandhan Divided | Chandrababu Naidu mocks KCR's Federal Front, says "Seventeen Telangana MPs cannot form a new government"

After it became clear that the Mahagathbandhan has split between a non-BJP alliance furthered by TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu and a non-BJP, non-Congress front led by TRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao, the Andhra Pradesh CM has decried his Telangana counterpart's efforts towards forming a coalition without the two major national parties. 

"There are only two fronts, BJP or anti-BJP front. There is no scope for another front without the BJP or the Congress. KCR is saying he will create a new front, how will he do that? Seventeen Telangana MPs cannot form a new government," he said.

His statement comes on a day when one of Congress' key allies, the Samajwadi Party, seemed to jump boats from Naidu camp to Rao camp.

SP chief Akhilesh Yadav earlier on Wednesday hit out at Congress and thanked the party for "paving the way for it" ahead of the Lok Sabha 2019 polls.

"I would first like to congratulate the BJP for removing us based on false promises. They had given us mahagathbhan many names ahead of the state assembly polls. BJP sought votes on the basis of caste, we sought votes on the basis of development. I would like to thank the Congress too that they didn't give the ministry to the SP candidate in Madhya Pradesh. They have paved the way for us for this election," he said.

The former UP CM also announced his meeting with the Telangana CM.

"I congratulate KCR for his initiative on bringing together regional parties for the Federal Front. I was supposed to meet him on December 25-26th. I will meet him in the recent future," he said.

KCR had recently met his Odisha counterpart Naveen Patnaik and emphasised a "dire need" for unification of regional parties to provide an alternative to the Congress and the BJP ahead of the 2019 general elections. He also met with Mamata Banerjee and said they had discussed National politics.
