Giriraj Singh slams CM Nitish, urges for flood relief in Begusarai

In his recent trip to Bihar, Giriraj Singh assailed CM Nitish Kumar and expressed his distress on the step treatment towards flood-affected people in Begusarai

Union Minister of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying Giriraj Singh assailed Chief Minister Nitish Kumar in his recent trip to Bihar. He expressed his distress on the step treatment towards the people of his constituency Begusarai who are affected by floods. Giriraj Singh, while visiting the flood-affected riverine areas of the Gangetic belt of Bachhwara and Chamtha, spoke to the DM and urged them for a flood relief.

"I will not tolerate any step treatment towards Begusarai, as the Government in power has to look after everyone," the minister said.

'The Situation in Begusarai is frightening'

Singh took to Twitter and stated, "I am going to take stock of the damage done in the flood-affected areas in Chamatha, Begusarai. The situation is very frightening. I am constantly talking to the authorities to provide all possible help for the people of the area."

He further stated that due to the increase in water levels, water has entered houses and the state government should provide the required relief. He asserted that politics should not be played on natural disasters like flood or drought.

Bihar Floods

The flood situation in Bihar remained grim throughout the season. The Nitish Kumar Government even mentioned writing to the Centre for help in the wake of the calamity which has affected over 80 lakh people in the state. Two deaths each were reported from Darbhanga and Kishanganj districts last month, the State Disaster Management Department said in a release. The total number of casualties in Darbhanga was 12 and seven in Kishanganj. Thirteen districts in the State were hit by the floods, which have affected almost 82.84 lakh people. Sitamarhi and Madhubani districts remained the worst affected with 37 and 30 casualties, respectively, and together account for more than 31 lakh flood-affected people.
