On July 11, 2019, a student of Class One in Howrah district of West Bengal was allegedly beaten by his teacher for chanting 'Jai Shri Ram'. Father of the student Aaryan Singh alleged that the teacher of Sri Ramkrishna Sikshalaya in Howrah beat his child brutally. As per inputs, the student allegedly chanted the slogans of Jai Shri Ram in the school after other students allegedly chanted the slogan. However, the father of the victim alleged that it was only his son who was brutally beaten up by the teacher. He alleged that the incident has made the child extremely nervous, adding that his school teacher asked him not to raise the slogan in school or outside. The father of the victim has further said that he has a complaint about the matter to the school authorities but there was no FIR done by West Bengal Police.

"The Sir hit our child and asked him not to say 'Jai Shri Ram' whether in school or outside. He's almost 7 years old and I've never seen him this nervous. He's a courageous kid and I've always encouraged him. He asked me whether he should take the lord's name or not. He does not want to go to school out of fear. We've scolded him so many times but have never seen such behaviour," the father of the victim had said.
