Here is the 'Skip List' of political leaders who are not attending PM Narendra Modi's swearing-in ceremony on May 30

PM Narendra Modi will be sworn in for a second term as the Prime Minister on Thursday at 7 pm in Rashtrapati Bhavan along with his Council of Ministers. The ceremony is expected to be attended by numerous of dignitaries from the Centre and the states. However, certain leaders in the Opposition have decided to not attend the ceremony.

PM Narendra Modi will be sworn in for a second term as the Prime Minister on Thursday at 7 pm in Rashtrapati Bhavan along with his Council of Ministers. The ceremony is expected to be attended by numerous dignitaries from the Centre and the states. 

The Chief Ministers of all states, state unit chiefs of BJP, state ministers, present members of Parliament, former members of the Parliament have been invited for the oath-taking ceremony.

Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhara Rao and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister-elect Jagan Mohan Reddy have also reportedly been invited for the ceremony and will grace the event with their presence.

However, certain leaders in the Opposition have decided to not attend the ceremony. Below is the 'skip list' of political leaders skipping the event.

1. West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee

She has said that she has decided to not participate in the event claiming that BJP tried to earn political points by telling the media that 54 of its workers were killed in political violence in the state. The BJP had invited the families of 54 of its slain workers to PM Modi's ceremony. Below is her statement. 

She has said in her ceremony "is an august occasion to celebrate democracy, not one that should be devalued by any political party".

2. Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan

Kerala CMO on Wednesday said that chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan will not attend the ceremony without citing any reason.

3. Punjab CM Captain Amarinder Singh

Sources from the Punjab CMO said that there are no plans of Captain Singh flying to Delhi, indicating that he would not attend the event.

4. DMK chief MK Stalin

While Stalin was invited for the swearing ceremony he is likely to send his MPs TR Baalu and A Raja to the swearing in function, sources said.

5. Chhatisgarh CM Bhupesh Baghel

Baghel who took over the reins as the chief minister of the state in 2018 has said he won't be able to attend the ceremony as he had made prior plans.

6. Mayawati

The Bahujan Samaj Party leader will not be attending the oath-taking ceremony.

7. Congress chief ministers 

Other states CMs from the Congress - chief minister of Madhya Pradesh Kamal Nath, chief minister of Puducherry V. Narayanasamy, and chief minister of Rajasthan Ashok Gehlot - could follow the footsteps of their counterparts and omit the swearing-in.

The list is subject to change with respect to latest update on the story.

Meanwhile, TDP's Chandrababu Naidu who was defeated in the Andhra Pradesh assembly elections by Jagan Mohan Reddy won't attend the YSRCP chief's wearing-in ceremony on May 30.
