In a shameful attempt to politicise and propagate an anti-forces agenda over the abductions of families of police personnel by terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir, former Chief Minister of the state Mehbooba Mufti has lumped terrorists and forces together and accused them of victimising each other's families.

Taking to Twitter after 11 family-members of police personnel were abducted over a 2-day period in Shopian, Kulgam, Pulwama and Anantnag, Mehbooba Mufti wrote:

Meanwhile, another former J&K CM, Omar Abdullah, has called out what he has called the 'selective outrage' of those who slam the security forces for 'excesses' but are silent on the abductions.

In another tweet, he's commented on an article where separatist leaders, namely Syed Ali Shah Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Yasin Malik, are condemning what is called 'Harassment of militants' families'.

To this, the JKNC chief writes: "I don’t condone any families being harassed but how about a word of condemnation for the harassment and worse still the kidnapping of families of J&K police personnel".

The politicisation comes against the backdrop of the abduction of 11 family members of police personnel by terrorists in the last two days. The number of abducted family members currently stands at 10 as 1 has been freed in Pulwama.

The abductions came hot on the heels of the NIA arresting Syed Shakeel Ahmad, son of Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) leader Syed Salahuddin, from his home in Srinagar in a terror funding case. A day before that, HM and Jaish terrorists had attacked and martyred four J&K police personnel, including one SPO, at Shopian as they were repairing their vehicles. The terrorists decamped with the police officers' rifles. A few hours before that, two Hizbul terrorists, including a commander Altaf Ahmad Dar, were neutralised in an operation in Anantnag's Muniward.
