On Tuesday, NCP demanded that Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis must resign and renounce politics after the Supreme Court set aside the Bombay High Court order which gave Fadnavis a clean chit in a case of suppression of criminal matters in the 2014 poll affidavit. NCP chief spokesperson Nawab Malik also said that Fadnavis has no right to contest the Maharashtra elections which are scheduled to be held on October 21.

He should resign immediately: Nawab Malik

Nawab Malik took to Twitter and said, "The CM while contesting the elections had tried to hide the criminal cases. The case went to the court where he got a clean chit but the Supreme Court has given a verdict today that hiding this information was wrong and this court case will move forward. We welcome this decision. This proves that the chief minister sometimes doesn't obey rules. Now, he has no moral right left to remain in politics. He should resign immediately and renounce political life. Until a verdict comes from the Supreme Court, he has no right to contest the election."
