In a massive political faceoff, Mamata Banerjee has denied permission for Amit Shah’s rally at Shyambazar in Bengal after the party decided to take on the West Bengal CM on her own turf. Mamata Banerjee has been one of the most ardent critics of the NRC draft list since its release by the Assam government. To take the foreigners’ debate to West Bengal, senior leaders like Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh and Amit Shah will be visiting the state. Both the Ministers of State for Home Affairs will too be visiting the state.

While, Amit Shah will be visiting West Bengal on August 11, Rajnath Singh will visit the state around August 20.

BJP’S NRC COUNTER STRATEGY:

  • BJP national president Amit Shah to visit Bengal on August 11.
  • Shah to raise infiltration issue
  • Rajnath Singh will be visiting the state on August 20
  • Both the Ministers of state for Home Affairs - Hansraj Ahir and Kiren Rijiju to visit the state and spread the reality of NRC

Mamata Banerjee has been attacked the Central government over Assam NRC alleging that even Indians couldn’t make it to the final draft list. She even met with Rajnath Singh on Tuesday to discuss the issue.

“In Assam, it’s not just only about Muslims, they want to throw out 40 lakh people. How come Indians have become foreigners suddenly? What is going on in Assam? The NRC problem. It is not only the Bengalis, it is the minorities, it is Hindus, it is Bengalis, it is Biharis. More than 40 lakhs people voted yesterday for the ruling party and suddenly today they have been made refugees in their own country” said Mamata Banerjee.

Mamata further went on to say that “if it continues to be like this, don't you think it will create a bloodwar?”

The Trinamool Congress chief also said that she was surprised to know that Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed, former President of India’s family members were also not there in the list.

Earlier on Monday, after the Assam government released the final draft list of NRC, Mamata Banerjee had accused the government of excluding ‘Bengalis from the list’.
