Amidst the tussle between BJP and Shiv Sena in Maharashtra to form the government, Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut on Wednesday said that the party still expects what they were promised before elections. The party leader also said that Shiv Sena will write the fortune of Maharashtra and the alliance will be smooth if everything goes as promised. Earlier on Tuesday, amidst a public spat between CM Devendra Fadnavis and Raut, Shiv Sena cancelled a scheduled meeting with BJP.

Sanjay Raut on Wednesday said, "People will talk about BJP-Shiv Sena, we don’t care about it but yes we still expect what BJP had promised us before the elections, they will have to fulfil it. We will write down the fortune of Maharashtra. If everything goes according to the words promised to Shiv Sena, then the alliance in Maharashtra will function smoothly. Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray during press meet, had clearly said that what we are demanding for should be given in to us in writing."

Sena says won't break the alliance

Even as Sena is demanding that the CM seat should be divided between the two alliance partners, Sanjay Raut has made it clear that the Mahayuti alliance is here to stay. Speaking to Republic, he said, "We won't break the alliance and do that sin." This comes despite Raut's warning that Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray has 'other options'.  He had said: "Uddhav Thackeray ji has said that we have other options too but we don't want to do the sin of accepting that alternative. We cannot murder democracy or teach moral lessons to everyone. Shiv Sena has always kept itself away from such kind of politics."

Maharashtra poll result

When the poll result was announced on October 24, the saffron alliance swept Maharashtra, winning a combined tally of 161 (BJP- 105, Sena -56). But the 'Maha- Agadhi' alliance (NCP-Congress)  made a comeback as the NCP bagged 54 seats while the languishing Congress too bagged 44 seats. Though the BJP-Shiv Sena alliance will form the next government, it was handed a diminished mandate compared to 2014 where it won 185 seats.
