Sirsa: Will continue fighting for safety of Hindu & Sikh girls in Pak

Manjinder Singh Sirsa, while replying to Major Arya on Twitter said that he has been in talks with the family of Jagjit Kaur and that she will return soon.

Manjinder Singh Sirsa, politician and the spokesperson of the Shiromani Akali Dal (SDA), while replying to Major Gaurav Arya on Twitter, regarding the abduction and conversion of Jagjit Kaur in Pakistan, said that he has been in talks with the family of Kaur.

Captain Amarinder Singh welcomes them

While replying to Major Arya’s tweet that asked Sirsa to inform the family that Chief Minister of Punjab, Captain Amarinder Singh has welcomed them to Punjab. He mentioned that he will continue to fight for the safety of the Sikh and Hindu girls in Pakistan and that Jagjit Kaur is scheduled to reach her family soon. Major Arya, in his tweet, also said that the family should now realise that 'Pakistan was never home. India is.'

 

19-year-old Kaur went missing for four days before she surfaced on Thursday after being forcibly converted to Islam and made to marry a Muslim man in Nankana Sahib area of Lahore. Her family since then has been constantly pressuring the Pakistan authorities to release her. They even threatened to self-immolate if their demands were not met.

The family feels helpless

Surinder Singh, brother of Jagjit Kaur said, "Our family has faced a tragic incident as some goons forcibly entered our house and abducted my younger sister. They tortured her and forcibly converted her to Islam." He added, "We went to a police station to register a complaint. We met many senior officials but they have not listened to our complaint. The goons again came to our house and forced us to withdraw our complaint and threatened that they will also force us to convert to Islam if we persisted with the complaint."

The family has also been making repeated appeals to Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan and Chief Justice of Pakistan Asif Saeed Khosa for the safe return of Jagjit Kaur. Manmohan Singh, another brother of Jagjit Kaur said, "The goons also threatened the family that if we do not withdraw the complaint, we will be killed. I have appealed to Prime Minister Imran Khan and Chief of Army Staff Qamar Javed Bajwa to help us or else the incident could impact Kartarpur Corridor.” The Sikh community in both India and Pakistan has condemned the incident and there have been widespread protests against it in both the nations.
