Urmila Matondkar slams centre over abrogation of Article 370

Actor-turned-politician Urmila Matondkar hit out at the Centre over the security clamp-down in Jammu and Kashmir after the abrogation of Article 370.

Actor-turned-politician Urmila Matondkar on Thursday hit out at the Centre over the security clamp-down in Jammu and Kashmir after the abrogation of Article 370. She said that her husband has not been able to speak to his parents, who live in Kashmir, for the last 22 days.

"The question is not only about abrogating Article 370. It was done in an inhuman manner," Matondkar, who contested the Lok Sabha election unsuccessfully on Congress ticket, told reporters.

"My father-in-law and mother-in-law stay there. Both are diabetic and have high blood pressure. Today is the 22nd day, neither me nor my husband have been able to speak to them. We have no clue if they have medicines available at home," she said.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi quoted by Pakistan 

Earlier on Tuesday, Pakistan wrote a letter to the United Nations and quoted Rahul Gandhi's words alleging people dying in Kashmir. The letter was written by Pakistan’s minister of human rights Shireen Mazari. The letter was yet another gimmick to internationalize the Kashmir issue through channelling and peddling news about the valley. "Acts of violence have been acknowledged by mainstream politicians, such as the leader of the Congress party, Mr Rahul Gandhi who has noted "people dying" in Jammu and Kashmir, in light of events "going very wrong there."

Following this, Rahul Gandhi hit back at Pakistan and tweeted that he criticizes and does not agree with the government on many issues. However, Gandhi asserted that Kashmir is India's internal issue and that Pakistan has no room for interfering in the matter. In addition, the Congress leader further slammed that tensions and violence in Kashmir was instigated by Pakistan. He also said that Pakistan is globally known to support terrorism across the world.

Pakistan has repeatedly made sham efforts by picking up statements from Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. Meanwhile, several countries have supported India's stand on Kashmir and said that Kashmir is India's internal matter.
