2 Killed as Portion of Under-Construction Building Collapses in Mumbai

Two people, including a 10-year-old, were killed after a portion of an under-construction building collapsed in Vikhroli West area in Mumbai on Monday.

Mumbai: Two people, including a 10-year-old boy, were killed after a portion of an under-construction building collapsed in Vikhroli West area in Mumbai late on Sunday.  

The ground-plus-five storey structure was located at Kailas Business Park in Vikhroli area. The incident is said to have taken place at 11.10pm on Sunday.

The deceased have been identified as Nagesh Ramchandra Reddy (38) and Rohit Reddy (10).

Upon reaching the site, the fire brigade personnel found that a portion of the parapet and slab had fallen, while some parts of the under-construction building were hanging precariously, news agency PTI quoted a civic official as saying.

Soon after the building collapsed, locals had rushed both the injured who later died to Rajawadi Hospital where they were declared dead by doctors.
Earlier on June 5, a person died and another one was injured when a large portion of the slab of a single-storey structure collapsed in Mahim area here.
