2 Loco Pilots Injured After Freight Trains Collide in Punjab's Sirhind

A stationary freight train was hit from behind by another at the Sirhind railway station in Punjab on Sunday, June 2, injuring two loco pilots.

New Delhi: Two loco pilots were injured Sunday morning when a stationary freight train was hit from behind by another at the Sirhind railway station in Punjab on Sunday, June 2.

The collision happened in the wee hours on Sunday. A Railway officer told PTI that the the collision caused the engine of one of them to flip over to another track and hit a passenger train. "Around 3:45 am, we received information that an accident took place. We have reached the spot...Two loco pilots have been injured and they have been admitted to Civil Hospital, Fatehgarh Sahib. No casualties have been reported, " said Ratan Lal, Government Railway Police (GRP) Sirhind Police Station.

There was no loss of life but loco pilots Vikas Kumar and Himanshu Kumar were injured.  A Fatehgarh Sahib Civil Hospital doctor said Vikas Kumar suffered injuries to his head and Himanshu Kumar to his back. They were referred to the Rajindra Hospital in Patiala, the doctor added.

“In the train accident, two injured loco pilots have been referred to Rajindra Hospital, Patiala. Both are residents of Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh,” said Dr Evanpreet Kaur of Civil Hospital Fatehgarh Sahib, as quoted by ANI.
