According to officials, a team of the Prevention of Crime Branch (PCB) on Saturday evening arrested two men for their alleged involvement in getting beer cans sent from Mumbai to a warehouse in the Odhav area of Ahmedabad.
According to police, a PCB cop got a tip-off that Indian-made foreign liquor (IMFL) had been brought from Mumbai to a warehouse on Bhikshuk Gruh Road in Odhav.
Following a tip-off, police inspected five cartons of stock sent from Mulund West in Mumbai to Dharam Enterprises in Bopal. They seized 228 beer cans valued at Rs 18,240.
Taufiq Shaikh, a mini-truck driver from Danilimda who had come to collect the shipment, and his accomplice, Tarun Soni, 25, from Ramol, were apprehended by the police. Shaikh informed them that Harsh Vikram Singh, a resident of Narol, had ordered the beer cans. The Odhav police have filed a complaint under the Prohibition Act against Shaikh, Soni, and Singh, who is currently at large, as well as the unidentified sender of the shipment.
