3 Members of Family Were Killed, 1 Injured After Car Falls in 300 Metre Deep Gorge in Uttarakhand

3 members of a family were killed and left injured after their car fell into a 300-metre deep gorge in the Salt area of Almora district of Uttarakhand.

Almora: In a tragic incident, 3 members of a family were killed and one sustained severe injury after their car fell into a gorge in the Salt area of Almora district of Uttarakhand. During the incident, which took place at Chachroti on Tuesday, a 9-year-old girl and her parents were killed, while her brother is undergoing treatment at a hospital and is said to be critical.

According to the police, the incident took place at Chachroti, where the driver suddenly lost control of the vehicle and the car slipped off the road and fell into a 300-metre-deep gorge. On information of the incident, the local police team along with district administration reached the spot and a rescue operation was initiated.

All the victims were pulled out of the gorge and were shifted to a nearby hospital, where three of them were declared dead.

A senior police official said there were four members of the same family in the car and were going from Roorkee in Haridwar district to Deghat in Almora.

The deceased were identified as Munendra Singh, his wife Shashi and their 9-year-old daughter Aditi, who reportedly died on the spot. While their 11-year-old son Arnav is undergoing treatment at a hospital.

The family was a resident of the Civil Lines area in Roorkee.

A case under relevant sections has been registered by the police and further legal action is being taken.
