Mumbai: Five policemen were injured in a stone pelting incident during an anti-encroachment drive in Mumbai on Thursday.
According to sources, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) and police officials had gone to the Powai area in the city to demolish illegal encroachments.

Locals pelted stones on BMC team and police in order to protest against the demolition of the encroached houses in the area.
"A few police personnel have been injured in stone pelting on Police and BMC officials during an anti-encroachment drive in Powai area. Heavy police presence in the area," Mumbai Police said. Soon after the incident that took place at around 1pm, the anti-encroachment drive was stopped.

Visuals have emerged on the social media wherein locals can be seen pelting stone at officials who had gathered in large numbers. Heavy police deployment can be seen in the area.
