5.0 Magnitude earthquake jolts Andaman And Nicobar Islands

The quakes hit the islands at around 5:40 am and 6:37 am at the depth of 10 km.

An earthquake of magnitude 5.0 on the Richter Scale hit the Nicobar Islands on Wednesday, July 2, according to the National Centre for Seismology (NCS). The quake hit the islands at around 5:40 am at the depth of 10 km, with its epicentre located at Latitude: 9.32 and Longitude: 94.03, the NCS reported. 

Afterwards, just after less than an hour another earthquake of magnitude 4.8 hit the Nicobar islands at around 6:37 am. Its epicentre was located at Latitude: 9.42, Longitude: 94.14, the National Centre for Seismology reported. 

Earlier, an earthquake of magnitude 5.8 on the Richter Scale hit the Andaman Islands on July 29 at around 12:53 am, the NCS reported. The quake hit the islands on Saturday at a depth of 69 kms, the NCS confirmed. Its epicentre was located at Latitude: 10.75 and Longitude: 93.47.
