New Delhi: India's air defence systems successfully shot down 50 Pakistani swarm of drones on the intervening night of May 8 and 9, fired to target Indian military and civilian establishments over various cities along the Line of Control and International Border. India's robust S-400 air defence system neutralised these drones over the skies of Amritsar, Jalandhar, Jammu, Poonch, Kutch, Jaisalmer, among other districts. However, Pakistan's latest escalation badly failed to hit even a single target, making the security operation as a historic success for the Indian armed forces who kept guarding the cities all around the dark.

As India's air defence systems remained alert all night long on May 8, several cities including Amritsar, Jalandhar, Jammu, Poonch, Kutch, Jaisalmer, others were put under a complete black out.

Citizens were advised not to switch on lights, move out or drive vehicles, as armed forces were retaliating to Pakistani escalation.

A heavy firing was reported along the Line of Control and in forward areas. Amid this, Indian forces foiled a major terror infiltration attempt.

Unconfirmed reports also surfaced claiming that at least 2 Pakistani pilots were taken under custody by Indian authorities after India's armed forces shot down at least 3 fighter jets send by Pakistani including one US-made F-16 and two Chinese JF-17.

Reports also said that a huge blast was reported near Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif's residence following which he and his family was moved to a safer location.

Some unconfirmed reports also claimed that Karachi port was also targeted.

Amid all this, India is expected to hold a press conference at around 9 AM. It's being believed that the news conference will give more clarity and details on Thursday night security operation by India against Pakistan's escalation.

Earlier on the intervening night of May 6 and 7, India had launched a major anti-terror operation targeting several Pakistan funded terror camps in its territory and Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) using precision air strikes. The anti terror operation killed over 100 terrorists, destroyed their terror camp infrastructure and reduced it to rubble.
