6-Year-Old in Kolkata Falls Through Railing Gap While Playing With Sister, Dies

A six-year-old boy was playing with his elder sister when he fell from the railing gap of the apartment in Kolkata; the boy unfortunately lost his life.

Kolkata: In an extremely shocking and unfortunate accident, a six-year-old boy in Kolkata, studying in class one, lost his life after he fell from the railing gap in the apartment.

The boy who lost his life was playing with his elder sister when he fell from the gap in the railing of the staircase on the fifth floor of the building; the incident happened in Ballygunge in Kolkata.

6-Year-Old Dies After Falling from Gap in Railing

The six-year-old Yogesh Nayak, son of Durga Nayak, a househelp in the building, was playing with his sister outside the service quarters where he lived, on the fifth floor. The accident occurred at around 9:15 pm on Saturday.

According to a police officer, “The boy lost his balance and slipped through the gap in the railing, falling to the ground floor.”

Investigation Underway

The police official, explaining the accident, said, “Yogesh and his sister Sakshi were playing on the staircase in front of their room while their parents were inside the room. The girl said that Yogesh had attempted to slide down the side guard wall of the staircase but lost his balance and fell through the gap between the rectangular-shaped staircase, plummeting to the ground floor. He sustained severe injuries on his head.” 

The boy was rushed to Calcutta National Medical College and Hospital but succumbed to his injuries. An investigation has been initiated, police added.
