Bengaluru: A Class 9 girl student in Bengaluru fell prey to cyberbullying after her AI-generated nude photos were allegedly circulated on social media platform, Instagram by an anonymous person. The girl is a student of a prestigious CBSE school in the city. The images were shared on the unofficial Instagram account of the school. 

According to sources, the manipulated images first appeared on a group chat which the victim girl was not a part of. She was alerted about the pics by her classmates. Soon after, her parents approached the cyber cell of the city police. Sources revealed that along with the girl, on more student was target in a similar way.

Her parents suspect that their daughter’s images were taken from her personal Instagram account. They suspect that the culprit is an acquaintance since the girl’s account is private and the school page is also a closed group that has around 50 members. The images were shared by a fake account.

The parents also informed the school about the incident which has assured its support and promised disciplinary measures despite the ongoing vacation period.

This disturbing incident highlights the growing instances of cyberbullying and the misuse of AI technology. Meanwhile, the law enforcement are trying to trace the IP address through which the images were shared on social media.
