Over 5,400 Pilgrims Leave Jammu for Amarnath Yatra
A fresh batch of over 5,400 pilgrims departed from Jammu on Tuesday, for the twin base camps in Kashmir to participate in the annual Amarnath Yatra.

Srinagar: A fresh batch of over 5,400 pilgrims departed from Jammu on Tuesday, for the twin base camps in Kashmir to participate in the annual Amarnath Yatra, officials said. According to officials by Monday evening, the number of pilgrims who had visited the 3,880-metre-high cave shrine had reached 207,016.
The twelfth batch comprising 5,433 pilgrims, including 1,117 women and 18 children, left the Bhagwati Nagar base camp at 3.13 am in 213 vehicles escorted by security personnel, they said.
Of these, 3,462 pilgrims in 124 vehicles opted for the 48-km traditional Pahalgam route, while the remaining 1,971 devotees in 89 vehicles chose the shorter but steeper 14-km Baltal route, according to officials.

52-Day-long Annual Pilgrimage
The 52-day-long annual pilgrimage that began on June 29 will conclude on August 19. The online registrations for the yatra commenced on April 15 on Shri Amarnath Shrine Board's (SASB) website and portal.
According to reports, more than 3.50 lakh devotees have registered for the yatra this year. The administration has set up comprehensive arrangements, including three-tier security, area dominations, elaborate route deployment, and checkpoints, to ensure a smooth pilgrimage.
Last year, more than 4.5 lakh pilgrims visited the cave shrine.
As many as 125 community kitchens (langars) staffed by over 6,000 volunteers has been set up to serve the pilgrims along the two routes to the cave shrine.
