Unity Run events to be flagged off by Amit Shah and Yogi Adityanath

Amit Shah and Yogi Adityanath to flag off the 'Unity Run' events in Lucknow and Delhi Respectively. People are expected to participate in huge numbers

The Birth Anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel is celebrated as 'National Unity Day'. Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his October's 'Mann ki Baat' had said this day gives the message to protect the unity, integrity and security of our country at any cost. In 2014, the Narendra Modi Government announced that this “occasion will provide an opportunity to reaffirm the inherent strength and resilience of our nation to withstand the actual and potential threats to the unity, integrity, and security of our country”. Sardar Vallabhai Patel played an instrumental role in India’s struggle for independence, and it's integration. He played a key role in convincing several princely states to align with the Indian Union. This day celebrates his contributions and principles. 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will pay a tribute to Saradar Patel from the 'Statue of Unity' ' in Kevadiya, Gujarat, to mark his 144th birth anniversary. The Prime Minister is also expected to participate in the "Ekta Diwas Parade", visit a technology demonstration site and interact with civil service probationers at Kevadiya, a statement by the PMO said. 

Run For Unity

On this day, various marathons are organised across the country to commemorate Sardar Patel's message of Unity. To disseminate the message of national unity to every corner of the country, ‘Run for Unity’ is being organised all over the country on Thursday, 31st October 2019" said a Government Press release. Thousands of people, including the top political leaders, will run a marathon dedicated to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. This year 'Run For Unity'  will mark the 144th birth anniversary of Sardar Patel.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah will flag off the event in Delhi. The run will begin at Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium and around 15,000 participants are likely to participate in it.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to flag off the "Run for Unity" in Lucknow

In Uttar Pradesh, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will flag off the "Run for Unity" in Lucknow where the run will start from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel's statue located near GPO Hazratganj and culminate at KD Singh Babu Stadium. He has urged people to participate for the run in huge numbers.
