Security Heightened Outside Baba Siddique's Residence Ahead of His Last Rites

President Droupadi Murmu on Sunday arrived here in Algeria on the first leg of her three-nation visit where she was accorded a warm ceremonial welcome.

"President Droupadi Murmu arrived in Algiers, Algeria on the first leg of her three-nation visit. This is the first visit by an Indian President to Algeria," the official handle of the President of India said in a post on X.

The Jharkhand Police on Sunday resorted to lathi-charge and fired tear gas shells as villagers clashed with cops in Garwah district over the route of the immersion procession of Durga idol. A police official confirmed the incident.

Superintendent of Police Deepak Kumar Pandey said some anti-social elements tried to create disturbance over the immersion route at Madgadi village.

Notably, the BJP secured a third term in the assembly polls in Haryana after the results of the assembly elections were declared on October 8. The ruling BJP won 48 seats out of 90 member Assembly House against the Congress , which managed to win only 37 seats.

At least one person was killed and several others were injured in Uttar Pradesh’s Bahraich after a clash erupted between two groups of people during the goddess Durga idol’s immersion procession on Sunday. The incident occurred under the Hardi police station area in Mahsi Tehsil on Sunday evening, during which stones were pelted at the procession in the Maharajganj town. On information, the local police along with the troops of security forces rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control.

According to the police sources, the incident occurred after a dispute broke out between two communities during idol immersion. As per reports, gunshots were also fired apart from the stone pelting during the incident. The deceased has been identified as Ram Gopal Mishra (22), a resident of Rehua, who was part of the procession. He received bullet injuries leading to his death.

The ongoing row between the Kerala Governor and Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan escalated further with the Marxist veteran on Sunday accusing Arif Mohammed Khan of unleashing "intentional personal attacks" on him and carrying out a "vilification campaign" against the state.

The CM also took a dig at Khan, who had accused him of 27-days delay in responding to his letter, by saying that the Supreme Court has frowned upon the "habit" of sitting on bills passed by the legislature.

Vijayan, in a strongly-worded letter to the Governor, said that he has never mentioned anywhere about any anti-national activities happening in Kerala. Therefore, "misconceived versions" about the same being repeatedly made in public were "part of a sustained vilification campaign to malign the state and its residents," he said.

"I am sorry to state that your goodself's (Governor) repeated misplaced reliance on unsubstantiated media reports is solely with an intention to find support, somehow or other, for wholly unwarranted imputations," the CM added.

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge’s family owned the Siddhartha Vihar Trust has now written to return back the five-acre land allotted to the trust, amidst an ongoing probe into the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) site scam. The Kharge family is the second big name from the Congress in the alleged MUDA scam after Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. Reportedly, the land in question had been allotted to Mallikarjun Kharge’s son, in the Hardware Sector of the Hi-Tech Defence and Aerospace Park in Bagalur by the Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board (KIADB).

Earlier, Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah’s wife had written a letter requesting to return the allotted land after the alleged MUDA scam surfaced drawing severe criticism from the Opposition.

The Court sent accused Gurmail Singh to Mumbai Crime Branch custody till 21 October. Police custody of Dharamraj Kashyap was not given. The court has directed to present the second accused again after conducting his ossification test.

Accused in Baba Siddique murder were taken to Mumbai's GT Hospital for medical examination.

A court has granted police custody of Karnail Singh and Dharamraj Kashyap, the two accused in the murder of former MLA Baba Siddique, until October 22 on Sunday. The suspects, who were arrested after the shooting, are alleged to have links with the Bishnoi Gang, according to police sources. Both men are residents of Haryana and Uttar Pradesh, respectively.

The shooting occurred last Saturday outside Siddique's son Zeeshan Siddique’s office near Colgate Ground in Bandra East. Three assailants, arriving in an autorickshaw, opened fire, leaving Siddique critically injured. He was rushed to Lilavati Hospital but succumbed to his injuries shortly after.

Mumbai Crime Branch has recovered 28 live cartridges from the accused. They may also be associated with some international gang. Police have demanded 14 days of police custody of the accused.

An Uttar Pradesh Police sub-inspector returning home from duty was killed in a road accident in Etah district, police said on Sunday.The incident took place on Saturday night when an unidentified vehicle hit Naresh Pal Singh (60) riding his motorcycle near the Natha village on the Bareilly-Agra highway.

Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Sunday said police have found some leads in connection with the killing of NCP leader and former state minister Baba Siddique.Different angles behind the killing were being probed, but police will talk about it later, Fadnavis, who holds charge of the state home department, told reporters in Gondia district.

Two persons were killed while another sustained injuries after a car overturned and veered off a road here, police said on Sunday.The accident took place on Chakkar Road when the driver lost control over the vehicle and it fell from the link road.The deceased have been identified as Aman (27) and Vishal (27) while the injured has been identified as Kapil. All of them were natives of Uttar Pradesh but were living in Shimla.

In a latest development in the case of the killing of NCP leader Baba Siddique, Mumbai Crime Branch on Sunday said that a total of six round of bullets were fired at Siddique, out of which three hit him.
The crime branch also mentioned that the third accused has been identified and will be arrested soon.
Earlier, according to the doctors at the hospital, Baba Siddique sustained two gunshot wounds to his chest before being brought to Mumbai's Lilavati Hospital for emergency treatment.

 Police have registered a case against a man and his son, both directors of an automobile company, for allegedly cheating a man from Navi Mumbai in Maharashtra of Rs 70.19 lakh in a scooters purchase deal, an official said on Sunday.

Project Director ATMA (Bilaspur), Tapinder Gupta, on Sunday said the Himachal Pradesh Agricultural Technology Management Agency will purchase maize at Rs 3,000 per quintal this year to promote natural farming under ATMA.

Former Delhi University professor G N Saibaba died at a state-run hospital here due to post-operative complications, seven months after he was acquitted in an alleged Maoist links case.        He was 54.        Saibaba was suffering from gall bladder infection and was operated on two weeks ago, but developed complications subsequently. He breathed his last around 9 pm on Saturday, an official told PTI.

A doctor from the Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai, where Baba Siddique was taken after he was shot at, has said  the former Maharashtra minister probably died before being shifted to the medical facility.Siddique was unconscious when he was brought to the Lilavati Hospital on Saturday night after being shot at. Doctors tried for almost two hours to save him, but in vain, he said.

Police have launched a probe into the killing of former Maharashtra minister Baba Siddique from different angles, including a possible contract killing, business rivalry or threat over a slum rehabilitation project, officials said on Sunday.The body of NCP leader Siddique (66), who was shot dead by three assailants in Mumbai on Saturday night, was shifted from Lilavati Hospital to Cooper Hospital around 6 am on Sunday for postmortem, an official said.

After Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Baba Siddique was shot dead in Mumbai, the party has cancelled all its programmes scheduled for Sunday.
In a post on X, the NCP said, "Keeping in view the tragic death of our party colleague Baba Siddique, all party programs for 13th October, i.e. Sunday stand cancelled."
Siddique, a former Maharashtra minister and leader in Ajit Pawar's faction of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), was shot near Nirmal Nagar in Bandra. He later succumbed to his bullet injuries at Lilavati Hospital late Saturday night.

After the postmortem at Cooper Hospital, Baba Siddique's body will be taken to his residence at Makoba Bungalow, Pali Naka, Bandra, for final respects. His condition was stated to be "serious" by his colleagues at the agitation site in the city, a medic said.
