Bihar MP Pappu Yadav Booked in Extortion Case For Demanding Rs 1Cr From Businessman

Raja accused Pappu Yadav and his aides of threatening to kill him if he failed to pay him.

New Delhi: An FIR has been filed against newly elected Bihar MP Rajesh Ranjan alias Pappu Yadav after a furniture business owner accused the politician of trying to export Rs 1 crore from him.

As per Republic's sources, in the FIR Raja, the furniture trader of Purnia has alleged Pappu and his associates of demanding extortion of one crore rupees. The FIR quotes Raja saying that the first 10 lakhs, then 15 lakhs, then 25 lakhs and now one crore extortion has been demanded by Yadav and his associates through phone and WhatsApp calls, also mentioned in the FIR.

Raja also accused Yadav and his aides of threatening to kill him if he did not pay.

Meanwhile, as the investigation in the matter is underway, Purnia SP Upendranath Verma said that Raja requested security for the safety of his life, so security personnel have been provided to him as per rules. After the probe, actions will be taken as per the evidence.

'A Disgusting Conspiracy': Pappu Yadav Reacts

This isn't the first time Pappu Yadav has been accused of strongarm tactics in his political career. Following the accusation the newly elected Bihar MP taking to X claimed the allegations as 'disgusting allegations' and urged for an 'impartial investigation.'

"Today, people troubled by my growing influence in the politics of the country and the state and the growing affection of the common people have said. A disgusting conspiracy has been hatched in Purnia. We will completely expose this conspiracy of an officer and the opponents. An impartial investigation should be conducted under the Supreme Court and whoever is found guilty should be hanged," the post read.

In the 2024 polls, Yadav won by a margin of 23,847 votes over Kushwaha. The Independent candidate polled over 5.67 lakh votes, while the JD (U) nominee polled 5.43 lakh votes. Meanwhile, RJD candidate Bharti managed to bag only 27,120 votes.
