In a tragic incident, a couple chose to end their lives after their village panchayat mandated their separation and refused them from getting married. Reportedly, they ended up their lives by hanging from a tree near Sarsar village of Mufasil police station area of Siwan district in Bihar.
The local villagers who reached the field on the next day, saw two people hanging on a tree with a noose around their neck.

Acting on the complaint of villagers, the police rushed to the spot and took the deceased's body in custody for further investigation into the case.
With weeping eyes, the family of the deceased informed that the couple was residents of Gambhirpur village of Nautan police station area of the Siwan district.

Couple falls in death trap after Panchayat order
24-year-old Mannu Patel, a resident of Gambhirpur village under Nautan police station, eloped with a girl from the same village after a brief period of their relationship.
Subsequently, when efforts were made to contact and summon both individuals, representatives from both sides convened for a Panchayati meeting in the village.

When the Panchayat head ordered them not to live together, the couple decided to ‘live and die’ together and ended their lives by hanging themselves from a tree, said the police.
