Bhagalpur: A shocking situation unfolded on Wednesday at a government senior secondary school in Bhagalpur, Bihar, as students took drastic action after failing to receive admit cards for the upcoming Class 10 board examinations. The incident took place at Gandhi Inter School situated in Goradih block. As per reports, the teachers were physically assaulted and confined within a classroom, while the principal in-charge managed to escape from the school premises.

The standoff between students and teachers was due to the non-issuance of admit cards. Allegedly, approximately 300 students slated to sit for the board exams have not received the crucial documents yet. The student-led agitation broke out because of a similar issue last year which had affected around 150 students, depriving them of the opportunity to take their examinations. In a bid to avert a repeat of last year's debacle, students resorted to extreme measures, holding their educators accountable for the delay in receiving the admit cards.

Local law enforcement swiftly intervened, rescuing the teachers from their hostage. Amid the chaos, one of the teachers reportedly clarified their role, emphasising their commitment to teaching and highlighting that the issuance of admit cards falls under the jurisdiction of the Bihar School Examination Board. They conveyed their communication to higher authorities regarding the delay.
