BJP Delhi chief Manoj Tiwari receives death threat. Details here

In an unprecedented incident, Delhi BJP President and North East Delhi CM Manoj Tiwari has claimed that he has received a death threat by an unknown person.

Speaking in the matter, the BJP leader said that he received the death threat by the unknown person through SMS on his personal contact number. Tiwari also stated that the person said that he is under "extreme compulsion" to eliminate the leader. 

As per inputs, the threatener sender had texted a Hindi text message to the BJP leader. However, in a bizarre incident, with the threatening message, the unknown person also apologised to Tiwari saying that he was under severe compulsion to eliminate the leader. 

The SMS was received on Manoj Tiwari's mobile phone at 12:52 pm on Friday which he saw on Saturday evening and immediately informed the police.

"I have informed the police about the threat," Mr Tiwari told new agency PTI.

Meanwhile, a formal complaint about the threat will be lodged soon, said Delhi BJP's Media Relations head Neelkant Bakshi.

Tiwari defeated his Congress rival and former Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit by a margin of 3,66,102 votes in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. Tiwari bagged 7,87,799 (53.9 per cent) votes, while Dikshit got 4,21,697 (28.85 per cent) votes. Meanwhile, ahead of assembly elections in Delhi next year, Manoj Tiwari has started meetings with municipal councillors. Key issues like corruption in building departments and insanitation are the agendas in BJP's election campaign. 

The Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) rules the South, North and East Delhi Municipal Corporations. The three civic bodies have been ruled by the BJP since 2007. The assembly polls will be contested among BJP, AAP and Congress. Most of the exit polls indicate that BJP will bag around five to seven seats in the upcoming elections.
