New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party ( BJP ) on Wednesday took a ‘emergency mindset’ dig at Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge over latter’s “20 more seats and they would’ve been in jail” remark at the saffron party.

Mallikarjun Kharge during a poll rally in Anantnag earlier today hit out at the BJP over Lok Sabha elections 2024 results asking where did they who were speaking about winning 400 seats go? They are reduced to 240 seats… if we had got 20 more seats, all these people would have been in jail adding these people deserve to be in jail.

The BJP hit back at Kharge saying this is coming from those who have ‘emergency mindset’ referring to the period between 1975 and 1977 when the former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi imposed emergency in the country. During period, people were deprived off their fundamental rights and many opposition politicians, journalists were put behind the bars.
