BJP Shares Video of Samajwadi Party MP's Nephew Mocking 'Constitution' in Viral Video
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday sharpened its attack on the INDI bloc for ‘insulting’ the Constitution.
New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday sharpened its attack on the INDI bloc for ‘insulting’ the Constitution, something the Opposition leaders have been flaunting in public appearances since the announcement of the Lok Sabha elections.
BJP MP Sambit Patra shared a video on social media platform X, showing Samajwadi Party MP Imran Masood's nephew holding the constitution, and misreading the oath-taking script with laughter in the background.
“Insult to the constitution, this is the identity of the INDI alliance. This video of Congress MP Imran Masood's nephew making fun of the Constitution by holding it in his hand is extremely objectionable and shameful,” wrote Patra on X.
Imran Masood was elected as a Member of Parliament after winning the Lok Sabha election from the Saharanpur seat in Uttar Pradesh on an SP ticket.
Opposition's ‘Save Constitution’ Rant
Congress-led INDI bloc leaders who made ‘Save Constitution’ a part of their agenda in the recently held Lok Sabha election had on several occasions spotted with the Constitution book to target the ruling BJP-led NDA.
During the 18th Lok Sabha's first session, Lok Sabha LoP and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi along with other MPs held up copies of the Constitution as Prime Minister Narendra Modi went up to take oath as the Leader of the House.
Gandhi, speaking to reporters outside the Parliament complex, said, “The attack which the Prime Minister and Amit Shah are afflicting on the Constitution, it is not acceptable. We won’t let that happen. That’s why, we held up the Constitution (book) while he was taking oath. The message that no power can touch the Constitution of India is being conveyed.”
Several Opposition leaders including Rahul Gandhi and SP MP Akhilesh Yadav, even carried the Constitution to the Parliament's podium while taking oath as Member of the House.
