Kasganj: The death toll in the Kasganj road accident has risen to 24 after nine more people succumbed to their injuries on Saturday. As many as 15 people sustained serious injuries. 

According to sources, the mishap took place earlier in the day when the tractor-trolley went out of control and fell into a pond after overturning. The tragic incident was reported in Dariabganj which falls under the jurisdiction of Patiali police station. 

The tractor-trolley was carrying villagers, mostly women and children, who were on their way for a holy bath in Ganga river on the auspicious occasion of Purnima. The injured have been admitted to Soron CHC, Kasganj CHC and District Hospital. Efforts are underway to extract the water from the pond by installing a pumping set. 

CM Adityanath expresses condolence

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expresses condolences over the death of several people in a road mishap in Kasganj. 

Yogi Adityanath tweeted, “The loss of lives in a road accident in Kasganj district is extremely heart-wrenching. My condolences are with the bereaved family. District administration officials have been instructed to provide proper free treatment to all the injured. It is a prayer to Lord Shri Ram to grant peace to the departed souls and speedy recovery to the injured.” 

PM announces ex-gratia from PMNRF for victims of Kasganj mishap

An ex-gratia of Rs. 2 lakh from PMNRF would be given to the next of kin of each deceased in the mishap in Kasganj. The injured would be given Rs. 50,000, the PMO stated.
