New Delhi: Delhi government on Friday moved the Supreme Court amid a water crisis in the national capital.

The AAP-led government has requested the apex court for additional water supply from Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and Himachal Pradesh for a month.

The petition stated that "Delhi's need for water has increased in the scorching heat. It is everyone's responsibility to fulfill the needs of the country's capital.”

The Delhi govt told the top court that the water demand in the national capital has increased significantly due to heatwave conditions. The AAP govt requested directions for neighbouring Haryana to release extra water to the city for a month.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had on Friday urged the BJP to direct its governments in Haryana and Uttar Pradesh to release water to the national capital for a month.

The national capital has been facing a severe water shortage amid heatwave and Water Minister Atishi has accused Haryana of not releasing Delhi's share of Yamuna water.
