An earthquake of magnitude 3.5 on Richter scale on Saturday evening hit Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar.
Kishtwar: An earthquake of magnitude 3.5 on Richter scale on Saturday evening hit Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar. According to the official sources, the earthquake hit the district at 5.34 pm in the evening. So far no casualties have been reported.
The National Center for Seismology (NCS), the nodal agency of the Government of India for monitoring of earthquake activity in the country, stated that earthquake tremors measured at 3.5 on the Richter scale were felt in Kishtwar, Jammu and Kashmir at 5.34 pm on Saturday.
According to the National Centre for Seismological, the epicenter of the earthquake was 10 kilometres inside the ground at latitude 32.29 in the north and longitude 76.67 in the east. After feeling the tremors, people came out of their houses. At present, there has been no news of any loss of life or property.
Earlier, on July 19, an earthquake of magnitude 3.3 had jolted Manipur’s Ukhrul at around 9.28 am. No casualties were reported during the tremors.
