Pune: A massive fire broke out at the boys' hostel of Sir Parashurambhau College in Maharashtra's Pune on Sunday morning. Several fire tenders were rushed to the spot to douse the flames. No casualties or injuries have been reported.
According to the fire officials, the fire brigade control room received an alert about the blaze and dispatched a team to the location immediately. The fire was triggered by a short-circuit in an electrical meter on the hostel's outer wall, the official explained.
College staff used fire extinguishers to try to control the blaze and notified both the fire brigade and the electricity department.
The fire brigade team quickly arrived and extinguished the fire completely. "Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident," the official said.
The fire brigade team ensured everyone's safety and prevented any further damage, he added.
Sir Parashurambhau College is governed by a private education society.
