Jagdeep Dhankhar Resigns As Vice President Of India Citing Health Reasons

New Delhi: Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar has announced his resignation from office, effective immediately. In a heartfelt letter addressed to President Droupadi Murmu, Dhankhar, who is also the Chairman of the Rajya Sabha, cited health reasons as the reason behind his decision, stating that he wishes to prioritise his health care and abide by medical advice.

Amid the beginning of the Parliament session, Jagdeep Dhankhar's resignation came as a surprise to many, given his active role in Indian politics and his dedication to public service. As Vice President, he has been an influential figure in shaping the country's policies and governance.

In his resignation letter, Dhankhar expressed his deepest gratitude to the President of India for her unwavering support and the wonderful working relationship they maintained during his tenure. "I extend my deepest gratitude to Your Excellency - the Hon'ble President of India for her unwavering support and the soothing, wonderful working relationship we maintained during my tenure," the letter read.

He also expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Council of Ministers, acknowledging their invaluable cooperation and support during his tenure. "Prime Minister's cooperation and support have been invaluable, and I have learned much during my time in the office," he said.

Jagdeep Dhankhar reflected on his time as Vice President, cherishing the warmth, trust, and affection he received from all Members of Parliament (MPs). "The warmth, trust, and affection I have received from all the Hon'ble Members of Parliament would ever be cherished and embedded in my memory," Dhankhar wrote, reflecting on his time in office. He also expressed his deep appreciation for the experiences and insights he gained as Vice President, describing it as a privilege and satisfaction to witness and partake in India's remarkable economic progress and unprecedented exponential development.

"I am deeply thankful for the invaluable experiences and insights I have gained as Vice President in our great democracy. It has been a privilege and satisfaction to witness and partake in India's remarkable economic progress and unprecedented exponential development during this significant period," the Rajya Sabha chairman said.

As he left the esteemed office, Jagdeep Dhankhar expressed his pride in India's global rise and phenomenal achievements, holding unwavering confidence in the nation's brilliant future. "As I leave this esteemed office, I am filled with pride in Bharat's global rise and phenomenal achievements and hold unwavering confidence in her brilliant future," he said.

The resignation came as a surprise, especially on the first day of the monsoon session of Parliament. As Dhankhar announced his resignation, all eyes are on the next Vice President of India.
