“PM Narendra Modi is completing his official visit to Poland and he was here at the invitation of PM Donald Tusk. The visit has been historic and very successful. Historic, since this was after 45 years that an Indian PM was visiting Poland and also this year marks the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations...One of the main aspects of the visit has been that both the countries have decided to take their relationship to the level of strategic partnership. In this contest, a joint statement has been released and an action plan has been finalised. So, there have been multiple aspects where the two countries have decided to cooperate even further...Poland is a very important partner for India in this region,” MEA Secretary West, Tanmaya Lal said.

We know how many good things he did under his leadership for the people of India, that India developed economically so significantly that it is now the 5th largest economy in the world, being only 11 before his premiership. He contributed a lot to the rising prosperity of the Indian people for their development as a proud nation.”

We will work for a green future by combining our capabilities," PM Modi said in

 a joint statement.

The ongoing conflicts in Ukraine and West Asia are a matter of deep concern for all of us. India firmly believes that no problem can be solved on the battlefield. The loss of innocent lives in any crisis has become the biggest challenge for the entire humanity. We support dialogue and diplomacy for the early restoration of peace and stability. For this, India is ready to provide all possible cooperation along with its friendly countries,” PM Modi said.

 Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday paid homage to the Polish-Indian legacy at the memorial for the Valivade-Kolhapur camp here in the Polish capital. Modi, who arrived here earlier for a two-day visit, paid tributes at the memorial plaque for the Valivade-Kolhapur camp near the Monte Casino War Memorial, which was inaugurated in November 2017. Valivade village near Kolhapur town in Maharashtra was where over 5,000 Poles had lived, integrated, and worked for several years before returning to their motherland. 

The majority of them had arrived either by land or sea route after evacuations from Polish camps at the height of the Second World War. 

Chhattisgarh deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma on Wednesday said the state government was considering transfer of the cases lodged in connection with the Mahadev betting app `scam' to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). About 70 cases related to the alleged scam have been registered with the state Economic Offences Wing (EOW) and various police stations. More information regarding this would be shared in the next few days, said Sharma who also holds the Home portfolio. 

Official sources said the issue of handing over the cases to the CBI could be discussed with Union Home Minister Amit Shah during his three-day visit to Chhattisgarh from August 23. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has already been probing money laundering cases linked to the Mahadev app, which came to light during the previous Congress government in the state, for more than a year. After the BJP came to power in the state, the EOW registered an FIR under Indian Penal Code sections 120b (criminal conspiracy), 420 (cheating) and the Prevention of Corruption Act in March, based on a report submitted to it by the ED.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid homage to the Polish-Indian legacy at the 'Good Maharaja Square' in the Polish capital here on Wednesday. Modi, who arrived here earlier for a two-day visit, paid tributes to the monument commemorating Jam Saheb Digvijaysinhji Ranjitsinhji Jadeja of Nawanagar by laying a wreath during a small event. The monument was unveiled in October 2014 at the Square of the Good Maharaja, Ochota district in Warsaw.

According to the Indian Embassy website, eight Polish primary and secondary schools are named after Jam Saheb, known as ‘Good Maharaja’ in Poland. In 1942, the Maharaja had provided refuge to about 1,000 Polish children from war-torn, occupied Poland and Soviet camps following the occupation of Poland by Nazi Germany and Soviet Russia.

The surviving Polish children have formed an Association of Poles, which meets on an annual basis in one of the major Polish cities, it said.

Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati on Wednesday supported the ongoing Bharat Bandh, calling it a 'conspiracy against reservation.' The day-long Bandh was organized by Dalit and Adivasi groups to protest the Supreme Court's recent ruling on the sub-classification of Scheduled Castes (SCs).

A day-long Bharat Bandh has been called by several groups today (August 21) over community-based reservations. Dalit and Adivasi organizations are leading the protest, demanding stronger representation and protection for marginalized communities.

The Bandh is in response to the Supreme Court's recent decision on the sub-classification of Scheduled Castes (SCs). Protests have taken place in several states, including Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Jharkhand, Bihar, and Odisha.

The Badlapur school, where two young girls were allegedly sexually abused, chose to cover up the crime rather than assist the parents in filing a police complaint, said Susieben Shah, chairperson of the Maharashtra State Commission for Protection of Child Rights, on Wednesday.

The incident, involving a male attendant, sparked outrage in Thane district on Tuesday, leading to protests by parents and locals that disrupted rail services and resulted in clashes with the police.

It said much before the Monsoon arrived in Delhi, the Urban Development  Minister, Saurabh Bharadwaj, had directed Chief Secretary Naresh Kumar to provide the report on the desilting of drains by various agencies, including the MCD, PWD, NDMC, DDA, Irrigation and Flood Control Department.
