PM Modi Makes 1st Visit to Varanasi Post Election Resuts, Performs Ganga Aarti

The Government of India, on Tuesday, issued a notification to give effect to the provisions of the new Postal Law - The Post Office Act, 2023. The Post Office Act, of 2023 has been enacted today. The Act aims to create a simple legislative framework, for the delivery of citizen-centric services and benefits of Government schemes up to the last mile, enhancing ease of living.

The exclusive privilege of collecting, processing and delivering of letters granted to the Post Office previously, has been discontinued. In order to promote “Maximum Governance and Minimum Government”, no penal provisions have been prescribed in the Post Office Act, 2023, which comes into force today. The newly enacted Postal law provides a framework for prescribing standards for addressing the items, address identifiers and usage of postcodes: India Post

Now the Union Government and the National Testing Agency will have to respond properly. NEET has become a controversial National issue. The Tamil Nadu government has been demanding from the beginning that NEET should be scrapped. What is the need to have NEET?... We need to find a long-term solution whether to have NEET or not... When the Parliament session will be called, the issue will be raised by several political parties and there must be proper debate and a solution needs to be found for this controversy."

"Narendra Modi, as usual, is maintaining silence on the tampering with the future of more than 24 lakh students in the NEET examination. The arrests made in Bihar, Gujarat and Haryana clearly show that there has been organised corruption in the examination in a planned manner and these BJP ruled states have become the epicentre of paper leak. In our judiciary, we had guaranteed to secure the future of the youth by making strict laws against paper leaks. While fulfilling the responsibility of the opposition, we are committed to formulate such tough policies by strongly raising the voice of the youth from the streets to the Parliament and putting pressure on the government," Rahul Gandhi tweeted in Hindi.

BJP candidate for the Hamirpur assembly seat bypoll Ashish Sharma filed his nomination papers here amid a show of strength by the party. Fifteen more stranded tourists were evacuated from Lachung and adjoining regions of Sikkim's landslides-hit Mangan district on Tuesday, officials said. The district administration along with Border Roads Organisation (BRO), State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and other volunteers are taking the stranded tourists to safer grounds, officials said. More tourists are likely to be evacuated and moved to safer places as the day progresses, they said.

The Mangan district administration on Tuesday ordered the closure of all government schools in the district with immediate effect due to safety concerns of students in view of damage to property and road blockages. An ordered issued by District Magistrate Hem Kumar Chettri said government schools in Manul, Singhik, Mangan and Mangshilla clusters of Mangan block and Lingdong, Hee Gyathang, Passingdong, Lingzya, Tingvong and Gor clusters of Dzongu block will remain closed till further orders.

The Supreme Court on Tuesday said even if there was "0.001 per cent negligence" on the part of anyone in the conduct of the NEET-UG 2024 examination, it should be thoroughly dealt with. Observing that students have to labour hard while preparing for these examinations, the apex court said the litigation pertaining to the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (Undergraduate)-2024 examination ought not be treated as adversarial.

A fire broke out at a factory in east Delhi's Gandhi Nagar area on Tuesday morning, officials said. The fire service was informed at 9.55 am and five fire tenders were pressed into service, an official of Delhi Fire Service (DFS) said.

Four fishermen belonging to Tamil Nadu's Pudukkottai were apprehended by the Sri Lankan Navy for catching fish across the border near Delft Island (Northern Sri Lanka). Curfew has been clamped in Odisha's Balasore town following a clash between two groups, police said on Tuesday. The district administration has also suspended internet service in certain sensitive areas of the town and urged people to stay in their homes and not to step out.

Nationalist Congress Party (SP) head Sharad Pawar has written to Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde seeking a meeting to address the drought-like situation in Purandar, Baramati, Indapur and Daund tehsils of Pune district. The senior superintendent of police in Jammu and Kashmir's Samba on Monday ordered increased patrolling and surveillance along potential infiltration routes and the establishment of random night ambush checkpoints at vulnerable locations as part of enhanced security arrangements ahead of the annual Amarnath Yatra. The directive was issued ahead of the yatra, which commences on June 29, amid enhanced threat perception following four terror attacks that left 10 people, including a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel dead and 50 injured in Reasi, Kathua and Doda districts.
