Delhi Cabinet: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders Parvesh Verma, Manjinder Singh Sirsa, and Kapil Mishra were sworn in as cabinet ministers alongside Delhi’s Chief Minister-designate Rekha Gupta at Ramlila Maidan on Thursday. Ashish Sood, Pankaj Kumar Singh, and Ravinder Indraj Singh also took the oath as cabinet ministers in the new BJP government, said an official gazette notification.
Delhi Cabinet Update: Who Are the New Ministers?
Parvesh Sahib Singh Verma: A key Jat leader in Delhi politics, Verma gained prominence after defeating AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal in the New Delhi constituency by 4,089 votes. Previously, he served as a Lok Sabha MP from West Delhi (2014-2024) and was considered a top contender for the CM post after BJP secured 48 out of 70 seats in the Delhi Assembly elections.
Kapil Mishra: Mishra secured a victory from Karawal Nagar, defeating AAP’s Manoj Kumar Tyagi by 23,355 votes. A former AAP member, he was once Delhi’s Water Minister* before being removed from Kejriwal’s cabinet over corruption allegations against Satyendar Jain. Mishra, who later joined BJP, has been a vocal critic of AAP and was in the spotlight for controversial remarks ahead of the 2020 Delhi riots.
Manjinder Singh Sirsa: Sirsa marked his return by winning the Rajouri Garden seat, defeating AAP’s Dhanwati Chandela by over 18,000 votes. He previously held the seat after winning the 2017 Delhi by-election, but lost in the 2020 Assembly polls.

Ashish Sood: A senior BJP leader and one of the frontrunners for the Delhi CM post, Sood won from Janakpuri, defeating AAP’s Parveen Kumar by 18,766 votes. He is also BJP’s co-incharge for Jammu and Kashmir.
Pankaj Kumar Singh: A dentist by profession, Singh comes from a political family—his father, Raja Mohan Singh, was a former Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) leader. Singh served as a ward councillor before winning his first Assembly election from Vikaspuri, defeating AAP’s Mahinder Yadav by nearly 13,000 votes.

Ravinder Indraj Singh: A prominent Dalit leader in Delhi BJP, Singh won from Bawana, defeating AAP’s Jai Bhagwan Upkar by over 31,000 votes. He has been actively involved with BJP’s SC Morcha* and has long advocated for Dalit rights.

Delhi CM Rekha Gupta, in a post on X said, “I express my heartfelt gratitude to all the top leadership for trusting me and entrusting me with the responsibility of the post of Chief Minister. This trust and support of yours has given me new energy and inspiration. I pledge that I will work with full honesty, integrity and dedication for the welfare, empowerment and overall development of every citizen of Delhi. I am fully committed to this important opportunity to take Delhi to new heights.”
Delhi CM Oath-Taking: Security Heightened
More than 25,000 security personnel and over 15 companies of paramilitary forces have been deployed across the National Capital for Thursday's oath ceremony of the new Chief Minister at Ramlila Maidan, a Delhi Police officer said.
The ceremony is likely to be attended by top party leaders, including chief ministers from BJP-governed states.
“We have deployed more than 25,000 police personnel and over 15 companies of paramilitary forces,” the officer said, adding that “robust” security arrangements were in place to maintain law and order.
