New Delhi: Shortly after media reports suggested that N. Ramchander Rao is set to be the new president of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) Telangana unit, Goshamahal MLA T. Raja Singh resigned from the party.
“This decision has come as a shock, not just to me, but to lakhs of karyakartas, leaders, and voters who have supported the BJP,” Singh wrote in a letter addressed to state BJP chief G Kishan Reddy.
“Telangana was ready for BJP to form its first government, but the wrong leadership choice has put that in jeopardy.”
Singh alleged that the leadership decision was driven by personal interests rather than the party’s goals in Telangana.
“This leadership has been imposed by individuals running the show from behind the curtain,” he charged. “I cannot stay silent or pretend that all is well.”
Calling it a difficult but necessary step, he added, “The silence of many should not be mistaken for agreement. I speak not just for myself, but for countless karyakartas and voters who today feel let down.”
While stepping away from the BJP, Singh clarified that his ideological stand remains unchanged. “My commitment to Hindutva ideology and the service of Dharma will continue,” he said. “I will stand with the Hindu community with even greater strength.”
Singh also issued an appeal to top BJP leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP national president JP Nadda, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and general secretary BL Santhosh, urging them to reconsider the state leadership.
“Telangana is ready for the BJP, but we must choose the right leadership to honour that opportunity and not let it slip away,” his letter read.
Known for his provocative statements, Singh has frequently sparked controversy.
He had called for India to be declared a “Hindu Rashtra,” describing it as the “demand of every Hindu.”
