BSF foils foreign currency smuggling attempt, seizes US dollar worth Rs 1.39 crore

The BSF effectively thwarted a smuggler's attempt to transport foreign cash at International Border District-Nadia in West Bengal.

New Delhi: The BSF effectively thwarted a smuggler's attempt to transport foreign cash at International Border District-Nadia in West Bengal and recovered a total of Rs. 1,39,01,101. 

Reportedly, the incident took place in the area of BSF border outpost Betai. The BSF’s intelligence branch received a tip-off about the smuggling attempt and laid ambush in the area.

Meanwhile, following a thorough probe, at least 4 bundles carrying USD 1,66,900 was recovered and was seized and handed over to Chapra Customs Office for further probe.

Earlier on Monday, BSF troops recovered a packet containing around 480 grams of heroin, wrapped in yellow adhesive tape, on the outskirts of LS Wala village in Ferozepur district.

Meanwhile, BSF troops on Wednesday recovered a packet containing around 530 grams of heroin, wrapped in yellow adhesive tape, on the outskirts of Naushera Dhalla village in Tarn Taran district.
