Tarn Taran: The Border Security Force (BSF), in a joint operation along with the Punjab police, recovered a drone with a huge consignment of heroin in the Tarn Taran district near the India- Pakistan border. The BSF recovered drugs weighing 6.23 kg have value in the international market in crores. With swift action, the security forces managed to thwart a big drug smuggling attempt near the border.

A senior official stated that on September 12, consequent upon the activation of technical countermeasures, the BSF successfully neutralized a drone intrusion on the Tarn Taran border. Later, on receiving the information about the fallen drone, a joint search operation by the BSF troops in collaboration with the Punjab Police was conducted in the suspected area.

During the search operation at around 4.43 pm, the troops successfully recovered 1 assembled drone (quadcopter) along with 1 huge packet of suspected heroin weighing around 6.23 Kg from a farming field adjacent to Village Gilpan in Tarn Taran district.

The narcotics were wrapped with yellow adhesive tape. An improvised loop and 2 illuminating sticks were also found attached to the packet. The recovered drone is an assembled Quadcopter.

Meanwhile, the swift action of the BSF troops and coordinated joint search with the Punjab Police effectively thwarted yet another attempt at a narco-drone intrusion from across the border. “The recovery proves to be a big blow to the nefarious designs of the cross-border narco syndicate,” the BSF official said.
