Moradabad: In a tragic incident, three people were killed on the spot whereas as many sustained injuries in a road accident on Delhi-Moradabad highway, on Thursday morning.

The accident, involving two cars and a bus, was reported at Mundha Pande village which falls under the jurisdiction of Mundha Pande police station. The deceased have been identified as Nakshe Ali, Ashraf Ali and Arif Ahsan.

According to sources, the car, carrying six occupants, was plying from Delhi. The car occupants were said to be residents of Rampur. Sources revealed that the victims were returning after their Haj pilgrimage.

It is learnt that the speeding car was crossing a bridge in the village when the mishap took place. The tragedy unfolded after the driver of the car lost control over the vehicle and hit another car. The intensity of the collision was such that the car jumped the divider and landed on the other side of the road where it was hit by a roadways bus.

The road accident disrupted the traffic on the route for some time. The mangled vehicle was removed from the accident site with the help of a crane to normalise the traffic flow.  The injured have been admitted to a hospital for treatment.

Meanwhile, the police have sent the bodies for post-mortem.
