New Chief Justices Appointed To Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, Assam And Jharkhand High Courts
Centre notifies appointment of new Chief Justices to five High Courts. Four Chief Justices transferred to different jurisdictions.

New Delhi: The central government has notified the appointment of new Chief Justices to five High Courts, including Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Karnataka and Assam. The appointments were made by the President of India in consultation with the Chief Justice of India, under constitutional powers. The government has issued a notification regarding the appointment of the five chief justices.
According to the notification, Justice Sanjeev Sachdeva, who had been serving as the acting Chief Justice of the Madhya Pradesh High Court, has been appointed as its permanent Chief Justice. Justice Tarlok Singh Chauhan, previously a judge of the Himachal Pradesh High Court, has been elevated as Chief Justice of the Jharkhand High Court. Justice Vibhu Bakhru from the Delhi High Court is now the Chief Justice of the Karnataka High Court. Justice Ashutosh Kumar, acting Chief Justice of the Bihar High Court, has been appointed as Chief Justice of the Assam High Court. Meanwhile, Justice Vipul Manubhai Pancholi, a judge of the Patna High Court, has been elevated as the Chief Justice of that court.
Transfers of Chief Justices
In addition to these appointments, four Chief Justices have been transferred. Justice Manindra Mohan Shrivastava transferred from the Rajasthan High Court to the Madras High Court. Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh has been transferred from the Tripura High Court to the Telangana High Court. Justice MS Ramachandra Rao has transferred from Jharkhand to Tripura, while Justice KR Shriram has been transferred from the Madras High Court to the Rajasthan High Court.
These judicial appointments and transfers were based on recommendations made by the Supreme Court Collegium headed by Chief Justice of India (CJI) BR Gavai. The Collegium's recommendations are an important aspect of the Indian judicial system, ensuring that appointments and transfers are made in accordance with the principles of judicial independence and merit.
