Chennai-Mumbai IndiGo Flight Makes Emergency Landing After Receiving Bomb Threat

As per media reports, flight 6E-5314 which took off at around 6:30 from Chennai safely landed in Mumbai at 8:45 am.

New Delhi: An IndiGo flight from Chennai to Mumbai on Saturday, June 1, over 170 passengers made an emergency landing after it received a bomb threat. This is the second time within a week that an IndiGo flight received the bomb threat.

As per media reports, flight 6E-5314 which took off at around 6:30 from Chennai safely landed in Mumbai at 8:45 am.

A source revealed that an unclaimed remote was found onboard the aircraft. Following this, the pilots informed Mumbai air traffic control and requested an emergency landing. A full-scale emergency landing was declared amid this and fire tenders and ambulances reached the spot for assistance.

Hours later, the Indian airline in a statement said that the flight received a bomb threat and all passengers had safely disembarked the aircraft.

"IndiGo flight 6E 5314 operating from Chennai to Mumbai had received a bomb threat. Upon landing in Mumbai, the crew followed protocol and the aircraft was taken to an isolation bay as per security agency guidelines. All passengers have safely disembarked the aircraft. "

It added that the aircraft is undergoing inspection and amid all security checks, the aircraft will be positioned back in the terminal area.

On Tuesday, May 28, an IndiGo flight from Delhi to Varanasi was moved to an isolation bay after receiving a bomb threat. The flight, 6E2211 was scheduled to take off from Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI) in the early morning. However, the airport officials stated that a call was made to the Delhi Fire Department at around 5:30 am regarding the threat.  A quick response team was immediately deployed, and all passengers were safely deboarded.

This isn't the first time, an airline or other entity has received a bomb threat. At the beginning of this month, an Air India flight lavatory at Delhi IGI airport found a tissue paper with the word 'Bomb' written on it.
